Fights and Fires – Proof That Ghosts Exist
‘Proof That Ghosts Exist’ is the first full length release from Fights and Fires which was made available to purchase through the bands big cartel website as well as live shows in 2011. This album is filled to the brim with punk rock and roll rhythm and influenced with the essence of old school hardcore from beginning to end.
Having played live with Fights and Fires I can say they are an exceptional live band, but in this day a band that are decent live as well as recorded are few and far between. Right now on the underground scene Fights and Fires are the exception to the rule.
Four burly chaps who are more about putting it out there, doing what they want and making decent music instead of focusing on their hair cuts, how tight their jeans are and whether or not they all head bang in time. A Fights and Fires show is one like no other and the same goes for their album.
Songs about being pissed off with the state of society and how they feel about the world we live in today hit home hard for anyone out there with at least half a brain along with music that you can’t help but rock out to. In fact I would give anyone £1000 if they could go the full album without breaking out an old school hardcore dance move or at least head banging to it (don’t hold me to that bet).
This album is by far one for the books and will hopefully be somewhat of a collectors item in years to come. After recently coming back from Sweden after supporting Everytime I Die, Fights and Fires are taking a break from live performances but hopefully not for long.
Stand out track has to be closer Better Dreams but not one of these tracks lacks balls and attitude. In the words of Sum 41 this is all killer no filler. 8.5
