Art History is the neatest insight yet into Flash Bang Band’s sound – it presents both the high-octane energy for which they are so known live, and perfectly showcases their enlightened songwriting and arrangements. The track was recorded at the band’s home practice studio by the band themselves and mixed by ex-Crooked Mountain Crooked Sea guitarist Andrew Brothwell.
Their self-produced promo video features their usual co-conspirators – the band’s second home is Northern Lights and the cast of the video is made up from staff members, and there’s a special appearance from Tomo Ishii, the artist who painted the original artwork for Bite Your Tongue. The video was filmed and produced by bassist Rob, and contains the usual whacky content typical of all the band’s videos which are all self-made. Expect rice, Japan, painting and a neat and tidy story line.
Recently, the band have been on tour to Europe twice and played two shows at The Great Escape 2014 that were mentioned on MTV and Amazing Radio. They also performed on request at John Kennedy’s Remedy night, where John mentioned that Art History was his favourite song (by the band). There is a short tour of Kent coming up this month, a number of shows planned in London and Brighton, as well as appearances at DIY festivals over the summer.
Brighton absolutely loves them, and it seems like just a matter of time before the rest follow
Art History will be released digitally, through all usual places, on August 11th 2014 by At The Helm Records.
