Franc Moody unveil video for new single, ‘Dream In Colour
’Worldwide festivals continue, Somerset House show (w/ Parcels) and EU headline tour also confirmed
“London warehouse funk at its finest…a pure distillation of the group’s dancefloor-ready sound” Notion“Superb…a unique blend of house, danceable pop, and a whole lot of fun” NME“Taking their dizzying sound to new heights” Line of Best Fit“Franc Moody have come a long way in a short time…frisky, irresistibly contagious” CLASHFranc Moody have today unveiled their first official video for new single ‘Dream In Colour’. Currently finishing off their debut album, the London band will follow their incredible debut set at Glastonbury by opening for Parcels at Somerset House on July 18th. Having sold out their own shows ranging from Heaven and Village Underground, as well as touring with the likes of Friendly Fires and Nile Rogers & Chic, the group plan to throw a secret warehouse party in London in advance of their autumn US and EU dates (more info to follow soon). ‘Dream In Colour’ is a definitive slice of Franc Moody, a band who marry contemporary concerns with classic, crate-digging sounds to increasingly potent effect. The track was inspired in part between this tension between offline and online life, with director Marta Brodacka capturing (according to the band) “the space where digital and real life meet. We wanted to emphasise the richness and colour of human life, through the process of dance with these robots becoming more human through the video to the final epiphany. We were on set for a lot of the filming and couldn’t believe how talented the dancers were and how well the whole thing came together. It felt like the theme resonated with everyone involved and that was really rewarding, as is the final vid!”
It’s an energy that has evolved across Franc Moody’s releases to date, and now looks set to be pushed further still on the band’s debut album. Inspired by heroes like Daft Punk or Jamiroquai, Franc Moody draw from the style and techniques of disco and techno whilst simultaneously threading influences of contemporary dance music into everything they do. In a time when London’s nightlife is dogged by closure and censure, the timeless (but timely) need for nightlife also appears paramount to Franc Moody – a band as seemingly beholden to Studio 54, The Haçienda or rave culture as they are Louisana Crawfish boils or (in their case) a Tottenham warehouse, in the belief that the party ultimately starts and stops with the individual.
On ‘Dream In Colour’, Franc Moody look set to keep the good times coming, arguably when we need them most.
