Girl Band Share New Single “Going Norway”
Girl Band have shared “Going Norway”, the second single from their new album ‘The Talkies’ (out 27th September). Hear it and watch the official video, directed by Bob Gallagher, here. A 7″, limited to 1200 copies and featuring exclusive b-side “The Talkies”, is also available here.
Vocalist Dara Kiely says of the track: “Going Norway was one of the first tracks we finished but the melody actually comes from a track that I wrote about 8 years ago. I saved that melody and brought it up when I didn’t have any ideas left, I was also doing a lot of mindfulness meditation around the time of it, so lyrically I decided not to use any pronouns within the track and the whole album – that came about when I came across this quote from the Buddha which was ’Nothing is to be clung to as I, me or mine’ – and I removed all that in a way to kind of find an abstract world to live in”
The track is taken from the Dublin group’s second album ‘The Talkies’, produced by the band’s own Daniel Fox, out September 27th, 2019. The album is the follow-up album to the band’s groundbreaking 2015 debut ‘Holding Hands with Jamie’. Pre-order your copy here*

‘The Talkies’ was recorded in November 2018 at Ballintubbert House, a stately home on the outskirts of Dublin “a few pay grades above what we’re used to”. The alien construction of Ballintubbert and its corridors help to navigate Girl Bands cataclysmic sound within a world of its own.
