THE GO! TEAM SHARE “MAYDAY” VIDEO VIA BILLBOARD

SEMICIRCLE NOW AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE ON MEMPHIS INDUSTRIES

FULL UK & EU TOUR IN FEBRUARY / MARCH 2018

The Go! Team have unveiled a brand new video for “Mayday”, the current single from the UK top 40 album SEMICIRCLE and a BBC Radio 6 Music A List single throughout January. It was premiered today Billboard, who said: “The video begins with a visual representation of the song’s Morse Code-inspired beat, but quickly unfolds into an elaborate stop-motion quest for companionship.”
“The video depicts a woman is in trouble, heartbroken and trapped in a flood of her own tears,” explains director James Slater, who also made the videos for previous The Go! Team singles “Doing It Right”, “Grip Like A Vice”, “Rolling Blackouts”, “T.O.R.N.A.D.O” and “Apollo Throwdown”.

“Like most of The Go! Team videos I’ve made, it’s a full on, coffee-fuelled collage of mixed media. This one is a collision of stop frame animation, archive flood disaster footage, rotoscoped backing singers and a crestfallen girl, who are all framed behind a storm of paper tears.”
The “Mayday” video also uses footage of the Detroit Youth Choir recording their backing vocals for the track. Learn more about Ian Parton‘s visit to the Motor City and his hookup with the choir to make SEMICIRCLE, in this short film.

SEMICIRCLE, cited early on as one of 2018’s Most Anticipated Releases by Pitchfork and Stereogum (among others) and described by NPR Music “a rich and playful swirl of Technicolor overdrive” in an exclusive pre-release stream, is available now on limited edition Neon Pink Vinyl, CD, Digital and Cassette from Memphis Industries.

Unlike 2015’s The Scene Between – which was essentially a solo project that followed the dissolution of the previous Go! Team lineup – SEMICIRCLE finds Parton collaborating with current live players Simone Odaranile (drums) and Angela ‘Maki’ Won-Yin Mak (vocals), as well as two original members, guitarist Sam Dook and rapper Ninja. Annelotte de Graaf (aka Amber Arcades), previous collaborator Julie Margat (aka Lispector), and a crew of unexpected musicians feature throughout
