Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci–How I Long To Feel (Matador)

What is going on in Wales at the moment?  Has Howard Marks had a special shipment? All the welsh bands seem to be mellowing on us and now Gorky’s have gone all sleepy as well.

To be fair  Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci were never rowdy in the extreme, but put it this way, Sweet Johnny doesn’t live here anymore.

Nice floaty summertime  music drifts in and out of your midi system and could quite easily bob side to side listening to ‘Summer Holiday’ by our Cliff. Something for the light summer nights when you really need something acoustic, with fiddle, piano, wurlitzer and harmonium.

Euro’s distinctive warble perfectly matches the multilayered fiddle as he sweetly sings about shooting his ex-girlfriend on ‘Christina’ or about his broken heart a song called ‘Dead Aid’ Soporific yes, bit they still have their dark side. 7.8/10
