Griff launches Taylor Swift dress comp, debut album out July 12th

Griff has today launched a competition to win her hand-made dress from supporting Taylor Swift’s iconic Eras tour. The British pop star has also confirmed that debut album vertigo will move forward for a July 12th release; teased by anthemic new single ‘Anything’, and coinciding with the news that she will also tour with Sabrina Carpenter around the US, surrounding her own epic run of global vertigo dates.

Introducing Griff on stage at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, Swift commented to the audience: “you started off getting to see an artist I am such a huge fan of. This girl, she is so creative on every single level. She’s in complete control of everything that goes into her writing, her producing, she even makes her own outfits for stage. I love her so much, and I’m so happy that she decided to come out and perform and open up this show.”  

To mark the landmark occasion, Griff designed her own, deconstructed gown directly inspired by the lyrics of ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ (“now I’m running with my dress unbuttoned / screaming “But Daddy I love him!”). A fearless talent who’s connected the worlds of music, fashion, production and pop culture from the very beginning, Griff continues to tread her own path through some of the world’s biggest stages – with the DIY wardrobe to show for it (she famously made her and her band’s clothes for their debut, lockdown BRIT Awards). Griff’s debut album, vertigo, will follow on July 12th, with dynamic new single ‘Anything’ dropping last week and also receiving its live debut on stage at Wembley. Dramatic but euphoric, ‘Anything’ is a fitting snapshot of a record that documents the trial-and-error process of growing up, but hinges on having a firm sense of yourself as a way to grow. It’s a Coming of Age journey that Griff has taken fans on across the rollout, building its three volumes in real time and – from its dizzying title track, to the euphoric ‘Miss Me Too’ – mirroring the arc from melancholy and doubt into healing and joy. Maintaining a 360-approach to everything she does, vertigo sees Griff scale new creative heights and, as she joins the likes of Taylor and Sabrina on tour, step forward as the next great British pop star.
