Hacienda Classical announces O2 Apollo Manchester on Saturday 25th November 2017
HAÇIENDA CLASSICAL SETS MANCHESTER HOMECOMING CONCERT
AT O2 APOLLO FOR SATURDAY 25TH NOVEMBER
Having just announced that it will open this year’s Glastonbury Festival main stage, Hacienda Classical will be back in Manchester at the end of November for its homecoming end of year concert at the city’s legendary O2 Apollo.
With the fully sold out returns to the Royal Albert Hall and Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl taking place over coming weeks Hacienda Classical has a busy summer of dates across the UK and festival and the Apollo date is to be a special affair, as the concert comes back to its hometown to round up the year’s run of gigs.
Tickets go on general sale for the O2 Apollo Manchester concert this Friday 12th May from 9am here – http://gigst.rs/haciendac
Haçienda Classical sees FAC 51’s original DJ partnership Graeme Park and Mike Pickering reinterpret the seminal dance classics which shaped the original club alongside Manchester Camerata, conductor Tim Crooks and guests. The show has returned in 2017 with a new set arranged for the concerts adding a range of new tracks whilst retaining some of the audience favourites from last year’s spectacular concerts.
At the two concerts so far in 2017, reactions at the concerts have remained as euphoric as last year as the performers, orchestra and crowd combine creating an electric atmosphere at both of the debut performances in April.
Critically, the reviews have been equally enthusiastic with the Yorkshire Evening Post commented on the Leeds show, calling it ” two hours of sheer enjoyment for the head, heart and feet, this is a show that’s hard to beat,” while Contact Music hailed it as “a total success”.
Meanwhile the second fully sold out Glasgow show was awarded the full five stars by The Wee Review (“the atmosphere was joyous”) whilst the Daily Record labelled the revised concert and set up “impressive but tunes remain at the heart of it all.”
Here’s Graeme Park commenting on the reaction to his and Mike Pickering’s new set
“Mike and I are absolutely thrilled at the response to the new Haçienda Classical 2017 show. The months of hard work behind the scenes has certainly paid off and the reactions have been fantastic. Everything we learned on last year’s rollercoaster journey has been applied to the new show to make the whole experience even more of an inspirational blast. As we finish up the year at the Apollo, it’ll be an incredible atmosphere.”
As The Haçienda’s dance heritage has collided with the world of classical music, the concerts have been phenomenal and the support for the” rave meets recital” music clash of worlds has been extraordinary, far outstripping any expectations.
In its second year, the tour returning to venues that hosted 2016’s inspirational nights as well as new locations, recreating the tunes that defined a generation at the original club, renewed afresh and rearranged with a classical orchestra.

“Probably the best rave since 1997. A night of soaring synth riffs, euphoric drops, massive tunes.” NME
“The atmosphere was incredible.” The Times – Five Stars

On AMC Choir
The AMC Choir who perform at all the Haçienda Classical dates sing with a style that fuses House and Gospel music perfectly.
Matching natural, full-bodied, vocals to recreate the classic tracks which make up the Haçienda Classical set, their voices resonate with the sounds of the DJ’s and The Camerata as their harmonies and considerable energy generate the atmosphere at the concerts.
Based in Manchester, AMC have performed together since the early 90s’ across many tours and special events and choir director Audrey Mattis, says of the involvement in the tour; “Singing these famous House tunes with the knowledge that Manchester and The Haçienda was at the heart of creating the original sound is an inspirational feeling. With the cheering, and the dancing crowds, we really feel like we’re part of a historical moment. It’s uplifting to hear the crowd singing along with us from the minute they hear the intros until the very last note.”
