Following the release of their critically acclaimed album There Is No Elsewhere, Derbyshire electronica trio Haiku Salut share a remix of the lead track, “The More and Moreness“, by Yorkshire-based techno composer Thomas Ragsdale. Where the original track saw an ambitious interweaving of electronic and organic with the triumphant warmth of a brass band, the remix strips everything back to the essential, rhythmic elements to create a hypnotic meditation. Haiku Salut hit the road this week for the new incarnation of their renowned Lamp Show Tour, in which a stageful of vintage lamps are programmed to flash, fade and flicker in time to the music, a truly unmissable mesmerising live experience. Thomas Ragsdale will be supporting in Leeds and Manchester.
Haiku Salut consists of multi-instrumentalists Gemma Barkerwood, Sophie Barkerwood, and Louise Croft. Between them, Haiku Salut play accordion, piano, glockenspiel, trumpet, guitar, ukulele, drums, and melodica. There Is No Elsewhere is their third album, following their debut Tricolore in 2013 and Etch And Etch Deep in 2015.
From his basement studio, Thomas Ragsdale creates cinematic electronica with immersive soundscapes and blissful techno workouts. His music has been featured with great effect in two BBC documentaries by Adam Curtis including the acclaimed Hyper Normalisation, where his track “Warning Mass” was featured extensively. Ragsdale’s live performances is like an audio-visual immersive sound-bath, drawing his audience into a mesmerizing and cinematic experience. With regular live performances sharing bills with artists including Tropic Of Cancer, Telefon Tel Aviv, Forest Swords and Tim Hecker.
