CANADIAN TOUR WITH ARCHITECTS THIS SUMMER
(June 9, 2012– Toronto, ON) The clichéd idea of finding a “diamond in the rough” is one that quite aptly describes stumbling upon Halifax’s A Sight For Sewn Eyes. Canada’s east coast, while certainly not short on musical talent, is far from a hotbed of heavy music; however, with ASFSE now set to stake their claim in new territories across Canada and beyond with their upcoming sophomore album, Alone Together, there may be a healthy amount of loud music-loving eyes and ears turning towards the Atlantic.
Alone Together, set to drop on Distort on June 26, 2012 is an expertly-executed collage of components from various styles of contemporary heavy music. Incorporating everything from the manic tempos of NYC hardcore, to the delightfully dissonant rhythmic onslaught of early metalcore pioneers like Norma Jean and Beloved, to more melodic musings that border on post-rock, ASFSE offers up a sampling of influential acts who’ve preceded them in a formula that’s all their own.
From the unrelenting breakneck pace of tracks like “You Have No Idea” and “That Night At Dom’s” to the more textured and intricate bits like the bridge of “Burnt Out,” Alone Together is a well-rounded and notably mature offering from this young quintet and its organic yet precise production style paints an accurate picture of what the band can deliver from the stage.
Formed in 2005, ASFSE is made up of Andrew Benoit (Guitar/Vocals), Ben Leathem (Drums), John Walsh (Guitar), Ben Brennan (Bass) and Joshua Hanusiak (Vocals). Known for their rabid tenacity, unrelenting technical prowess and head-turning performances, ASFSE has toured non-stop over the past few years sharing stages with the likes of Cancer Bats, 3 Inches of Blood, Dead and Divine, and Counterparts.
ASFSE just announced a slew of dates across Ontario in June, including a performance at S.C.E.N.E Fest and will be touring across Canada with label mates Architects in August.
To get fans stoked for the release of Alone Together, the band has just posted the instrumental track for the lead single Burnt Out on their Facebook page. Fans will have the opportunity to record vocals over the track and upload their video to Youtube. The band will view all of the submissions and will decide on the winner. The winner of the contest will receive two tickets to any ASFSE show in Canada, a Distort Prize Pack, a copy of Alone Together and an ASFSE t-shirt. The contest starts today and will run until June 22, 2012. For more info visit: http://www.facebook.com/asightforsewneyes
