HAPPY DIVING (RIYL: Japandroids / Dino Jr. / California X) debut new track ‘My Zone’ / Topshelf Records to release EP
Happy Diving have premiered their new song ‘My Zone’ (taken from the ‘So Bunted’ EP) with Impose, who say: “There can’t be enough of this band or enough guitar noise to help me through the rest of the week.”
From the very first listen, it is difficult to digest that Happy Diving have only been together since 2013.
The band’s new So Bunted 7” EP was recorded in just four hours at The Atomic Garden in East Palo Alto, CA, with the help of producer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor, Whirr).
Their new material sees the band channeling their frenzied energy and deafening and vivacious live shows into two magnificently sludgy pop songs. So Bunted follows 2014’s Big World LP (Father/Daughter Records) and will be their first release on tastemaker label Topshelf Records.

‘My Zone’ is out today on the So Bunted EP. (17 July).
Previous praise for Happy Diving:
“Whether it’s the walloping riff in the verse or the jarring step down in the chorus, Happy Diving demonstrate a knack for hooks that escapes most 90s revivalists stuck on the sound.” – Pitchfork
“Their first release on Topshelf Records looks set to build on the heavy, Dinosaur Jr-indebted sound” – NME
“The San Francisco band has a knack for succinct melancholy, and they capture the aimless, can’t-get-out-of-bed feeling well here while still sounding invigorating and fresh.”
“Happy Diving blend sledgehammer-to-the-stomach guitars with a pleading, heart-on-sleeve melodic sensibility”
– Wondering Sound
