THE CASTELLS (https://www.facebook.com/thecastells) returning with new music after 2 years out of the game, as well as young North-East favourites

STREET PARTY IN SOHO (https://www.facebook.com/partyinsoho).

Formed in late 2013 when 5 mates began jamming in an abandoned greenhouse, Hazels have come a long way in a short space of time……and not without good reason.

2014 got off to a flyer when Nick Roberts at BBC Newcastle declared himself a fan and gave 3 out of 4 tracks from the debut self-titled EP numerous plays on his show.  More local and internet radio plays followed as well as a live session for Sunderland Uni’s spark FM.  Flying high and gaining a lot of regional exposure the band played show after show around the North East’s best small venues including The Cluny, Head of Steam and Think Tank supporting the likes of Bleech, The Ordinary Boys and The Carnabells to name a few.

The feedback was all excellent and promoters around the country began to take notice.  The band self-released their debut single ‘This Ain’t A Game’ in August 2014 which earned further plays on BBC Newcastle, Spark FM as well as national airplay on Amazing Radio.  The track became a regular on the station with presenters Gill Mills, Scott McGerty and Aaron Philips all jumping on the Hazels bandwagon.  XFM’s Hattie Pearson has also chosen the track to feature in her new podcast along with an interview with frontman James Gibbons.

Hazels name became ever more present online with blogs such as ‘withguitars.com’, ‘londongigguide’ and ‘indiependent’ writing pieces on the band.  On the back of this played shows at Manchester’s Cult Festival and London’s Buffalo Bar for the well renowned Club Fandango.  The latter were so impressed with Hazels live show that they were invited back to the capital in September to headline their Rising showcase supported by Music Week at  Camden’s Black Heart.  The show was a massive success and praise has been heaped on the lads.  The offers of show after show came off the back of it but it was time to get writing and prepare for the next release (with the odd local gig in their for good measure).  The result is “In Control” which we will leave for you to be judge!!

Hazels don’t do half measures and don’t expect them to let up anytime soon.

Performing live is where these lads thrive so be sure to get along to one of their shows!!
