Jangle pop oddballs Her’s have shared the video to their track ‘Under Wraps’, from debut album ‘Invitation to Her’s’ which came out in August and received 4 star reviews from Q, Dork, The Line of Best Fit, Gigwise and a One To Watch piece from The Guardian.
The video, directed by Jorge Ramos, reflects their dream-like world and the Twin Peaks influence that runs throughout the entire album. The particular tenderness and fragility of this track, which presents Her’s at their most sincere, is perfectly in line with the story of two shy lovers in the visual.
The duo are shaping the very texture of Liverpool’s music scene alongside peers like Trudy and the Romance and Pizzagirl. The nucleus of the Merseyside scene surrounding these groups finds its identity through humour and imagination, and ‘Invitation to Her’s’ aesthetic builds through characters who double up as vehicles for poignant messages and commentary on friendship, masculinity among other themes.
‘Invitation To Her’s’ continues the work that their early material started, in their four-star review Q praised its “fusing Scritti Pollitti’s twinkling, slinky grooves with the luminous lugubriousness of Orange Juice to create something that’s feels distinctly theirs”.
After the success of ‘Invitation to Her’s’ the duo played a whole host of summer festivals and put US dates on sale with New York selling out in a month. Currently on tour in the UK and gearing up to play their biggest headline show to date at Tufnell Park Dome on the 24th October, the band today announce headline UK dates for Spring 2019, a Spring North American tour and their second trip to SXSW.
