HOLOGRAMS Debut UK show @ Old Blue Last – 17th April 2012 video for ABC City due for release 21st May – view below

"Sweden’s Holograms’ debut is one of the finest slabs of proto-punk to come out in ages… it’s basically the breakfast jingle to the bristling new Nordic Oik movement spearheaded by Iceage. They hit the UK in April. Miss them at your peril."    NME

With one of the most exciting debut albums due for release this    year, Stockholm’s Holograms are ditching their jobs in a packing    warehouse for a few weeks to go tour. Their sound synthesizes the    drudgery of dismal existence with a lust for something better;    echoing both the violent abandonment of punk as well as some of the    electronic gloss of early 80s new wave. Check their website for    further EU dates and email for guestlist for this much anticipated    show tonight.

With the most impressive performance witnessed by In House eyes at    SXSW this year – like a young New Order, Craft Spells is the epitome    of the recent uprising of the DIY music scene. Coming from a place    not known for its musical history or impact on music culture, it    seemed destined for Craft Spells to stay as a bedroom pop project    with no final destination in sight. But soon the shear amount of    blog volume Justin Vallesteros’ work began to generate was    unimaginable.

The sound is led by Justin’s blissful voice, backed behind beautiful    guitar melodies over heavenly synths, pop basslines and looped    rhythms. Captured Tracks has released 7″ single for the song ‘Party    Talk’ and the debut LP ‘Idle Labor’. Next up is ‘Gallery’, an    evolution in Craft Spell’s sound. Gallery fully embodies the    contentedness that comes with being home once assured of the worlds    infinite possibilities. Speckles of 80’s synth pop and drum loops    remain the nostalgic centerpiece, representing familiarity, while    Vallesteros illuminates himself as more comfortable venturing    outward into the abyss of song-writing. Upon shedding the shackles    of insecurity, Gallery unearths a resonating versatility amidst the    further crafting of Vallesteros’ cosmic disco.

DeMarco’s a weird cat, cultivating an affinity for occult imagery,    nudity and social satire. But his most impressive trait is his    undeniable and instinctual ability to compose magical pop jangles,    of which he’ll likely refer to as “jizz jazz”. His dusted jams have    garnished him accolades that are as ever-increasing as his song    writing abilities; his sound rendering comparisons, but in a nomadic    fashion alluding no distinct origin. Come early July DeMarco’s debut    solo mini album entitled Rock And Roll Night Club will ramble into    the great unknown guided by Captured Tracks, DeMarco’s inner Elvis a    tow.

DIGNAN PORCH http://capturedtracks.com/artists/dignanporch/    (album coming soon)

"Dignan Porch then, Joe and Sam Walsh, sons of a Northern Line tube    driver whose hearts will forever be in Tooting Broadway, 3 other    waifs and strays, and when all 5 are in a room together they are    completely compelling.” – Henry Withers Lovvers / Human Hair /    Dignan Porch Collaborator.

Dignan Porch are the sole UK signers to Captured Tracks and as such    are playing a whole bunch of UK shows with Omi Palone this month as    their album enters its last phases of completion.

    DIVE

DIVE is the nom-de-plume of Z. Cole Smith, musical provocateur and    front-man of an atmospheric and autumnally-charged new Brooklyn    four-piece. Recently inked to the Captured Tracks imprint, DIVE    created instant vibrations in the blog-world with their    impressionistic debut Sometime; finding it’s way onto the esteemed    pages of Pitchfork and Altered Zones a mere matter of weeks after    the group’s formation. Enlisting the aid of NYC    indie-scene-luminary, Devin Ruben Perez, former Smith Westerns    drummer Colby Hewitt, and Mr. Smith’s childhood friend Andrew    Bailey, DIVE craft a sound that is at once familial and    frost-bitten. Indebted to classic kraut, dreamy Creation-records    psychedelia, and the primitive-crunch of late-80′s Seattle, the band    walk a divisive yet perfectly fused patch of classic-underground    influence.

Medicine was formed in Los Angeles in 1990 by guitarist/producer    Brad Laner as a means for marrying raw experimental textures with    classic psychedelic pop song craft. Considered by many to be the    foremost American purveyors of what some called Shoegaze or    Dreampop, Medicine were one of the few U.S.bands on Creation Records    and highly unlikely residents of Rick Rubin’s American Recordings    where they released three LPs and many EPs between 1992and 1995. At    the time, these records elicited confused head scratching from most    and ecstatic devotion from some. Despite Medicine’s willful    obscurity, they subversively reached mainstream consciousness via    their appearance in the 1994 film (and its #1 soundtrack album),    “The Crow”. Medicine imploded in 1995 and Brad Laner has gone on to    release an ongoing series of solo LPs and guest appearances on    albums such as the current M83 album , “Hurry Up,We’re Dreaming”,    Brian Eno’s “Another Day On Earth” and Caribou’s “The Milk of Human    Kindness” . 20 years on, these original two records by Medicine are    still a bracing sonic slap in the face. Filled with surprises and    strange detours, both beautifully melodic and harshly experimental,    these reissues are lovingly presented with a complete set of vintage    non-LP B-sides and many archival curiosities for those who wish to    delve deeper.

Lol Elliott and Martin Newell, who together formed the legendary    lo-fi band Cleaners from Venus met in the small town of Wivenhoe,    southeast England at the turn of 1980s. Newell, a rock singer and    part-time kitchen porter who’d left his band the previous summer,    and Elliott, a drummer and former hippy traveller, had much in    common. They shared a love of sunny 1960s pop music, punk rock and    musical comedy. Neither Elliott nor Newell cared much for any kind    of musical rule book, both were dismayed by the new right-wing    politics which had now taken over their country. Both , were in    their twenties, had time on their hands and were keen to create    something new.
