Austin’s Honeyrude will release their full-length debut album, The Color Blue, on August 18th via Shifting Sounds Records (Magnet School, Black Books, Gentlemen Rogues), but the record can be streamed in full via The Le Sigh. The shoegaze revivalists have created a stunning record of textural dream-pop and early 90’s fuzzed out bliss, with an incredible attention to sonic detail.

The Le Sigh shared “The Color Blue is a record that treats vulnerability as a constant. They breath life into the poppier side of nineties indie rock, with the soft grunge sheen of Babes in Toyland and echoes of the shoegaze rockers of Lush. The music forces itself into rigid shapes; the lyrics are boldly declarative, fueling desire and fury, with irritation and loneliness coursing through each song. Vocalist Jess Ledbetter has a curious range. She possesses a low, clear expressive voice that evocatively communicates tender-hearted vulnerability.”

Speaking about the record, guitarist/vocalist Jess Ledbetter added: “The Color Blue has been a long road for all of us – “Ring, Ring, Ring” was first conceived in 1998 by Ian for his girlfriend at the time and came to its existing structure 2 years ago when I joined the band and wrote the lyrics and melody. “Something About Milwaukee” was written the beginning of this year, inspired by Swervedriver’s new record. The songs are undeniably nostalgic and I am really touched by the way it all came together and elated that it exists on vinyl. Records are like tattoos for me, they represent something you don’t want to forget, regardless of who you become.”

“sparkling, fully formed shoegaze, the kind that makes you want to frolic in a verdant field for hours on end—a cross between bands like Slowdive and, say, Real Estate.” – SPIN
“Informed, glowingly, by Jess Ledbetter’s staunch lead voice, The Color Blue is a resolute and formidable five-minutes of textural rock and roll; a glorious splash of colour and noise that seemingly swallows up the space around itself until little else matters at all, the final minute or so offering a weighty and breathless unraveling that’ll have you grasping for more.” – GoldFlakePaint
“an alluring swirl of guitars and sky-ward driven riffs. Frontwoman Jess Ledbetter’s voice dances between the distortion with resolute grace” – Consequence of Sound
