Hudson Taylor will release their new EP, Osea, on October 13th. The Osea EP is their debut release on Polydor Records. Hudson Taylor are brothers from the southern suburbs of Dublin who write beguiling folk songs. They’ve already amassed a huge underground following – their songs have had over two and a half million YouTube views already – and their breezy charisma is injected into their hook-laden vignettes. “Our music is raw and folky, like Crosby, Stills & Nash or Simon & Garfunkel,” says Harry, the older brother of the pair. Younger brother Alfie agrees: “We write pop songs. You have to keep people’s attention.”

That approach is summed up by the Osea EP. Lead track Care, produced by Florence & The Machine and Ed Sheeran collaborator Charlie Huggall, is a gentle, lolloping anthem with captivating dual harmonies. The song is already well known to their fans; an acoustic version available on Youtube has had nearly 55K views in less than a month. The other songs on the EP were produced by the Grammy-Award winning Mike Einziger and they share a similar sense of melodic effortlessness; Second Best is a bittersweet vignette, Called On and Beautiful Mistake stark, beautifully sung lullabies filled with character and charisma. Hudson Taylor are a band without any bluster; with the minimum of instrumentation, they make mesmeric, grand music. Osea is the follow-up to two acclaimed EPs, Cinematic Lifestyle and Battles, released on the brother’s own label Craic Records, with combined sales of over 10,000.

Aside from recording and writing, Hudson Taylor have spent a large chunk of 2013 perfecting their live show and this year alone have played to over 200,000 people. Over the past six months, they’ve supported Jake Bugg and The Rolling Stones (where y triumphantly filled in as a last minute replacement for Tom Odell in Hyde Park), as well as pitching up at a variety of festivals including Glastonbury, Longtitude, Camp Bestival and Cambridge Folk Festival. They will also play Bestival next month. Their own headline shows have been similarly in ascension; they played sold out shows at Whelans in Dublin in April and London’s Dingwalls in July. They are main support to Kodaline on the indie-rock quartet’s tour in November.
