I Like Trains – Beacons EP

On 15th October I Like Trains, or iLIKETRAiNS as some will remember them as, will release their latest EP ‘Beacons’ on ILR in support of their up and coming live tour of the UK. As part of their show they will relying quite heavily on crowd participation for their visual display by asking fans to send them pictures of a certain theme. The band are Guy Bannister (guitar, synths, vocals), Alistair Bowis (bass, synths, vocals), Simon Fogal (drums), and David Martin (lead vocals, guitar) who are from the Leeds area.

Their music is deep and brooding with an eighties electro twist. The vocals are subdued yet filled with emotion and lyrically intriguing. Complex and insistent back beats pull you along and deeper into their ever darkening world view. This is not a cheerful bounce along sound but a much more mature and sophisticated creation.

See them live this October in 13th Leeds – City Museum, 15th Glasgow – Art School, 16th Newcastle –Cluny, 18th Manchester – Deaf Institute, 19th Leicester –Guildhall, 21st Birmingham – Hare and Hounds, 22nd London– Cargo, 23rd Bristol – The Exchange, 24th Cardiff –Buffalo Bar, and 25th Southampton – The Cellar. 8.5/10
