[8th May, 2026] – Multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and vocalist Lola Bates officially unveils her highly anticipated debut album, Love and Power, available now on all streaming platforms via Gravel & Echo Recordings, distributed by Virgin Music Group. A deeply personal and sonically expansive body of work, Love and Power marks a defining artistic statement from Bates as she steps into her voice with intention, vulnerability, and control.
“What if one day I decided to shatter the glass of my own reflection and find the strength to change my way of being, as an act of love for myself?” Bates shares. “This is what I’m trying to get at with ‘Love and Power’. Each song is a reflection of myself coming to terms with my weaknesses, taking agency over my life, love, and relationships, and recognizing where power ignites within myself.”
Written and recorded between her Laurel Canyon home studio and Studio C at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles, Love and Power is a cinematic exploration of self-discovery, tracing the emotional terrain of relationships, identity, and transformation. Across the album, Bates blends elements of rock, pop, and Americana with lush vocal arrangements and meticulous production, creating a world that is both intimate and immersive.
Entirely self-driven, the album showcases Bates’ depth as a composer, producer, engineer, and songwriter, with her fingerprints on nearly every element of the project. Love and Power was co-produced with Maxwell Joseph, mixed by GRAMMY Award-winning engineer Robert Carranza, mastered by Howie Weinberg, and executive produced by acclaimed composer Tyler Bates. The album’s sonic world is matched by a striking visual identity shaped in collaboration with photographer Caroline Brodt, director Zev Deans, and designer Ryan Dunn, among others.
The release builds on the momentum of previously released singles “Girl’s Girl” and “Madonna Gold,” which introduced listeners to the album’s dark, sensual, and moody textures. From the hypnotic exploration of loyalty and morality on “Girl’s Girl” to the slow-burning intimacy of “Madonna Gold,” Bates has steadily revealed the layered themes that come to full fruition across the album.

About Lola Bates
Lola Bates is not your traditional singer songwriter. Raised in the hills of Laurel Canyon, her musical roots connect deeply to nature, vinyl, and the historic — lady of the canyon — Joni Mitchell, as well as other female rock and pop icons Kate Bush, Tori Amos and PJ Harvey to name a few. Bates is a classically trained pianist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, who weaves lush vocal harmonies throughout pop, rock, and folk arrangements in her original songs — all showcased on her upcoming debut LP, ‘Love and Power.’ Along with writing, producing and arranging her own records and performing the majority of the instruments on her songs, Lola works as an art and video director, and producer, on her music videos and album visuals.
At the age of 24, she has already had a prolific career. In 2022, Bates and her band toured in support of Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains) Brighten Tour, and then joined Cantrell’s band as keyboardist, backup vocalist and acoustic guitarist, for Cantrell’s world tour in support of his albums ‘Brighten’ and ‘I Want Blood.’ Furthering her career as an international touring musician, Bates then joined emerging pop band, Sunday(1994) on bass, for their supporting and headlining tours in 2024/2025.
At age 12, Bates performed the piano work for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 at Capitol Records Studios, followed by her work with the London Symphony Orchestra as the solo pianist for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, at age 15, recorded in Studio One at Abbey Road studios. Her vocal chops can be heard on Jerry Cantrell’s Brighten album, Adult Swim’s animated TV show Genndy Tartakovsky’s PRIMAL and CBS Tracker. Lola’s performance of Martha and the Vandellas’ ‘Nowhere to Run’ was featured in John Wick: Chapter 4, and her ethereal vocals for the film’s score and soundtrack album are examples of her seasoned musical chops and ability to transcend emotion in the context of storytelling.
With her wealth of experience and unique background as a writer and performer, Lola Bates will be showcasing her artistry and taking ‘Love and Power’ to stages everywhere in 2026.
