Chicago songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Erik Hall aka In Tall Buildings, has released his newest song “Days in Clover” as the final teaser to his upcoming full-length release Akinetic, out this Friday March 2nd on Western Vinyl.
The song’s dense mix and dirge-like tempo are juxtaposed with lush, three-part harmonies, which are filled out with help from Oregon singer-songwriter Heather Woods Broderick (known for her work with Efterklang, Horse Feathers, and Sharon Van Etten). The resulting tune has all the hallmarks of Hall’s maximalist, landscape-like production and Broderick’s mysterious and evocative melancholy.
“Days in Clover” is an apt follow up to Akinetic’s previous singles “Beginning to Fade” and “Curtain,” offering listeners an accurate taste of the sonically-sprawling album. Produced by Brian Deck(Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine) out of Hall’s home studio in Chicago, Illinois, the album yields ten new tracks of Hall’s spacious and textured handmade pop.
