Indian School – The Cruelest Kind
Indian School are set the release their debut EP ‘The Cruelest kind’ on 25th September via Animal Style Records. Formally known as Audio Karate these L.A. indie rockers have launched a Kick Start campaign to raise funds for a van to get them back on the road. Having taken a seven year break it was proving difficult for them to get back into the swing of things so they decided to take action. The band had a few words to explain why they decided to take matters into their own hands:
“Being on the road for months at a time, sleeping at truck stops in the snow and careening down countless roads around the world and United States slowly became all we knew. The reward was often connecting with music lovers of all shapes and forms, some of which having grown up along-sidethe sounds of our first project Audio Karate. When the music subsided, life had dealt everyone hands that had to be played correctly to preserve the interests of college degrees, family and health. The birth of Indian School, and our debut E.P “The Cruelest Kind” is sure to be the catalyst that thrusts us back into a city near you! To get to you, we need a van to once again, rekindle our only real passion… Being on the road. Driving all night. Shaking the hands of those whom we do this for… You, and your love for music!
The EP has a full on feel good chilled out vibe with just enough edge and attitude to keep things interesting. The lyrics are beautifully descriptive and are delivered with such heart and soul as is rarely accomplished by many bigger bands. Far from damaging them the long break has rejuvenated the band and they have returned with a stronger, more confidant, sound. 7.5/10
