Introducing… Furr

Furr’s fuzzy, grunge-like tendencies and soaring choruses are helping them build a reputation as a band that can unleash hook laden, catchy rock songs that pack a serious punch.
With their latest single “Padlocks”, the Leeds based four piece once again demonstrate why they are a band that demands your attention. Frontman and guitarist Jack Byrne describes the new song as being that of “lyrically exploring the apprehension and anxiety of being sure – but not certain – about something important to you. We wanted to contrast the personal lyrics with a loud, fast and very guitar driven song, throwing a massive riff in the middle of it all”.
Becoming roommates while studying music production at the Leeds College of Music, all existing under one roof allowed Furr be truly DIY, producing their records entirely themselves. After recording demos under the ex-moniker Humans As Ornaments, they were quick to sell out of 200 CDs, before investing the rest into touring the north of England, showcasing themselves as a band whose appetite for playing live was bar-none with their raucous and driven performances.
Though the band freely admit that the DIY way of doing things can take its toll, “we did all of the production ourselves. When you’re working full-time jobs as well as being in a band, this means that we had many overnight mixing sessions”.
While their sound exudes a deep love and respect for 90s alternative acts – such as Weezer, QOTSA, Smashing Pumpkins and more modern contempories like Dinosaur Pile Up, Furr give their music a more current edge by incorporating a love for pop harmonies and modern recording techniques.

Having had airtime on Huw Stephen’s Radio 1 show, and being described by New Roots Magazine as a band that “just don’t stop with their surprises” and as a “desirable balance between buzzy anarchy and rock that…well, rocks” by Team Rock, it’s no surprise that the band are receiving high praise as one of the best up-and-coming alt rock bands in the UK.
Furr are also set to tour the UK in November. Expect live dates very soon.
