Dublin-based “Goth-disco” five-piece Cable Boy release the anticipated debut album Forever (April 17th).

Building a reputation as one of Ireland’s most exciting newcomers, the five-piece are wasting no time building on the hype around their music with their full length debut, showcasing prolific creativity, atmospheric splendour and emotional depth, whilst capturing the energy and intensity of their live shows with a collection of inventive, exciting, and mature musicality.

Drifting through moments of driving shoegaze-meets-alt-rock, others of floating, psychedelic dreampop and others which lean into a more lofi bedroom pop sphere, the album showcases the full width of musical depth and creative flair which the quintet have become renowned for. Produced by Adam Shanahan, David Tapley, alongside Cable Boy themselves, The album moves between high-octane fizzers ‘Something In My Head’ and title track ‘Forever’, to splashes of ethereal, floating bliss such as ‘Icarus’, ‘Lets Go’ and ‘Drought’.

Talking about the album, frontman Semilore Olusa explains: “The intention behind calling the album ‘Forever’ was to create something from the soul that feels like it’ll stand the test of time.

We wanted to make something that sounded like a Time Capsule filled with all inspiration, like events and feelings we experienced so far in our time as a band. I think we succeeded in making something for ourselves as well as other people in our community’”

Formed by school friends Semilore Olusa and Liam Murray, Cable Boy have evolved steadily since their dreamy 2019 EP WHOLE. The post-2020 era marked a creative shift, with the addition of Corneille Tshibasu, Jason Aikhionbare, and Fionn McLoughlin, pushing the band toward a heavier, shoegaze-leaning hybrid sound they’ve dubbed goth disco.

Renowned for their visceral live performances, Cable Boy have already left their mark on some of Ireland’s most respected stages and festivals, including Electric Picnic, Beyond the Pale, Forbidden Fruit, Other Voices in Dingle, and Vicar Street. They’ve also received airplay and coverage across national media, including RTÉ 2fm, Radio X, Earmilk, Irish Times, Dork, Notion, District Magazine, Notion, Today FM, Hot Press, The Thin Air, Ones To Watch, Golden Plec, and Nialler9.
