J.Bernardt, the solo project of Jinte Deprez (Balthazar), returns with new single ‘Four In The Morning’, out now via Play It Again Sam. His first release since 2024, it’s an upbeat, moody pop song that plays like a euphoric haze: manic and captivating, all pulsating drums, sprawling synths and sultry vocals.
Written and recorded at 64 Sound Studio in Los Angeles with producer Paul Butler (Michael Kiwanuka, Devendra Banhart), the track finds Jinte working far from familiar routines, delivering his most liberated vocal performance to date. The result keeps his trademark sound but turns it more playful and reckless: the story of someone reaching a moment of clarity at four in the morning, whether intoxicated, sober or somewhere in between left deliberately unresolved. As Jinte puts it, “a dancer in his finest suit wandering through LA at four in the morning. I hope it ends well for him.”
Wild, warm and full of life, it’s the perfect soundtrack for summer.
