Earlier this week, McMorrow unveiled the official music video for lead track “Rising Water” via The FADER and TIDAL. Directed by David M. Helman, the beautifully shot video was filmed on a beach in Mexico. On his latest video and working with Helman, McMorrow had this to say, “I didn’t tell David what I wanted to see in this video, I just told him what the song meant to me and why I wrote it. Beyond that he was free to go with whatever instinct he had. The idea he came back with was perfect, it was everything I could have hoped for. To me, he’s made a video about the things we will do in order to move through loss. I’ve said this before, one of the bedrock ideas I built this album on was that dancing and heavy heartedness don’t need to be mutually exclusive things, that the response to sadness doesn’t have to only be slow tempos and minor keys. That’s the video David has made, one that reflects the absurdity, beauty, comedy and tragedy, of life.” The video is now available to watch and share via VEVO and YouTube.

We Move follows 2010’s Early In The Morning and acclaimed follow-up Post Tropical, which was nominated for Ireland’s Choice Music Prize and lead to numerous sold-out shows worldwide. Written in constant transition – and recorded between Toronto, Dublin and London – We Move is James Vincent McMorrow’s most expansive, generous and ambitious record to date. There is something more stripped-back – vulnerable, even – surfacing for the first time. Far from the dense, protective imagery at the heart of Post Tropical, We Move is ultimately a record open in its portrait of anxiety and social unease. For McMorrow, it’s about celebrating mental fragility and how we move forward in life, rather than “people listening to my songs and believing that I’m out in the forest all day long, thinking about trees. Because I’m actually at home, trying to convince myself to go out and get milk.”

In support of his latest effort, McMorrow will embark on a 7-date Canadian tour this November, beginning at the Corona Theatre in Montreal on November 12 and ending in Victoria at Alix Goolden Hall on November 25. Tickets for the dates are now on sale. For all confirmed tour dates, see below.
