James Vincent McMorrow has premiered an AK Paul remix of ‘Rising Water’, the original of which is taken from his critically-acclaimed new album ‘We Move’. A European headline tour kicks off this month – including a sold-out London show at Roundhouse on October 17th – whilst James has also been confirmed to appear on ‘Later…With Jools Holland’ next week (October 4th).
Describing the new version of ‘Rising Water’ – which is also AK Paul’s first ever remix – McMorrow writes: “AK is an incredible musician and Land Cruisin is a huge record: I love the work he’s done with Nao, I’m a big fan. And it turned out great, he said to me after it was done that he’s never done something like this before, lifted an entire vocal from an already written and produced song and then flipped the chord structure and premise of the song. But he nailed it, it’s gone from being this propulsive new wave  energy to a much more laid back rhythm, the vocal lands totally different, it’s beautifully done.”
‘We Move’ has scored raves everywhere from Sunday Times to MixMag to MOJO, the album went #1 in his home country of Ireland, and “Rising Water” racked up 1M Spotify streams faster than any of McMorrow’s singles to date, instantly cracking the Top 5 on Spotify’s UK viral charts. We Move follows 2010’s platinum-selling Early In The Morning (also #1 in Ireland), and acclaimed follow-up Post Tropical (nominated for the Choice Music Prize), leading to sold-out worldwide shows spanning two nights at Sydney Opera House to London’s Barbican & Shepherd’s Bush Empire. 2016 has already seen McMorrow surpass 100+ million streams, sampled on Drake’s Views, collaborate with Kygo, and feature in the quickly-viral trailer for the latest series of Game of Thrones.
The album was produced by Nineteen85 (Drake, dvsn), Two Inch Punch (Years & Years) and Frank Dukes (Kanye, Rihanna) and McMorrow will kick off a headline UK/EU tour on Oct 10th.
