Japanther US Tour Kicks Off 1/31, New LP Coming This Spring
Playing BrooklynVegan-Presented Dates w/ Tiny Moving Parts & SXSW
New LP Coming This Spring
NYC punk-rock duo Japanther will kick off a US tour on January 31st, playing a string of BrooklynVegan-presented dates with Tiny Moving Parts, stopping in Austin for SXSW, and joining Ty Segall, Dum Dum Girls, Weekend & many more at Dallas’ Spillover Festival. Known for their energetic and raucous live show, the guys have played some unique performances in the past: alongside synchronized swimmers, giant puppets, and BMX bikers, on top of the Williamsburg Bridge, out of the back of a moving truck, and once, for 84 hours straight on a moving platform. Members Ian Vanek & Matt Reilly sing into one-of-a-kind telephone mics while creating a wall of buzzing sound on drums & bass, backed by blaring cassettes.

Vanek & Reilly have been collaborating since 2001, churning out over a dozen releases in the past decade and contributing to various projects in the art, theater, and food worlds. 2013’s Eat Like Lisa Act Like Bart— a high-speed punk record full of catchy hooks– earned praise from the likes of SPIN, Stereogum, VICE & more, and saw the duo play DIY venues and art spaces around the country. It will be followed up with a brand-new LP, coming this spring via Seayou Records (details TBA.)
