JESSICA HERNANDEZ AND THE DELTAS Announce UK EP release on April 20th plus first UK headline show and  Social Distortion European tour support

US band Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas have announced their first foray into Europe with live activity and the release of brand new EP, ‘Caught Up’ – set for release on April 20th via NY’s Instant Records. The release will be supported by Jessica’s first headline UK show at London’s Old Blue Last on April 14th and followed swiftly by shows with Social Distortion in Europe throughout April and finishing on May 3rd with another London show at Shepherds Bush Empire.

The ‘Caught Up’ EP sees the Detroit-based band serving up a brilliantly polyglot sonic stew – equal parts rockabilly and surf pop, cabaret jazz and funky reggae, Latin psych and Gypsy punk – all cooked up on the hot Motor City pavement and seasoned by that distinctly Detroit combination of blasted R&B, show band theatrics, and limitless rock ‘n’ soul energy.

“We get called a lot of different things from a lot of different people,” Hernandez says. “It’s a combination of stuff that’s really fun and dark and makes you feel a whole range of emotions.”

Songs like ‘Caught Up’, ‘Sorry I Stole Your Man’ and ‘Cry Cry Cry’ showcase Hernandez’s unstoppable vocals and breadth of musical ambition, braiding contemporary pop thrills with an original and unmistakable creative persona all her own. In addition, the EP is rounded off with two tracks recorded specifically for European release ‘Don’t Take My Man To Idaho’ and ‘Deceptacon’. Dizzying in its range and ambition, the ‘Caught Up’ EP is fresh, focused and surprising, a remarkable new release from an utterly compelling new talent.

Despite her long-standing commitment to artistic independence, Hernandez signed her first deal with Blue Note and recorded her debut album with GRAMMY® Award-winner producer Milo Froideval. Following the breakdown of the Blue Note deal, Hernandez promptly joined forces with New York’s Instant Records, the independent label founded by legendary producer, songwriter and record executive Richard Gottehrer (Blondie, The Go-Gos, Dum Dum Girls). She culled a few cuts from the Blue Note sessions, recorded a couple of new tracks live to tape, and released 2013’s acclaimed DEMONS EP. The EP earned national acclaim in the US, with PopMatters hailing it as “an accomplished document that proves the band deserves all the hype they’ve been garnering.” “(Hernandez is) painting a very big picture,” declared The Huffington Post, “and her memorable voice is only one of the textured colours on a multidimensional palette.”

Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas are now primed and raring to bring their ineffably cool Midwestern rock ‘n’ soul to overheated venues across Europe. Having waited patiently to unleash her music on this side of the Atlantic, Hernandez is now fully prepared to call the motorway her home, at least for the foreseeable future. “My new EP is being released in Europe and I could not be more excited,” she says. “Now it’s time to get back in the van with my boys and show everyone why this record means so much to me.”
