North London’s homegrown DIY icon Delilah Holliday has been remixed by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, who’s given ‘On My Own Wave’ an energetic overhaul. This new version takes Delilah’s confident, soaring pop hooks, and fuses them to rhythmic beats to create a hypnotic club anthem. It arrives amidst her UK and European tour with rising star and Domino signee Georgia.

Delilah tells us that “it’s an absolute blessing to have Joe Goddard come on board for this remix. He has completely transformed the track and made it more up-tempo. Taken it from a ballad and made it danceable, beat heavy and chic. It transports me to a luxurious hotel by the pool in a hot climate and I’m always here for that kind of escapism. I’ve been a big fan of Joe and all his musical endeavours for a long time so big love to him for turning his hand to this track. I hope everyone enjoys this remix as much I do.”

‘On My Own Wave’ is taken from her ‘Invaluable’ mixtape, which incorporates ‘Invaluable Vol.1’ and ‘Vol. 2’, out on limited edition 12” transparent violet vinyl.

The ‘Invaluable’ mixtape exists in the space between fantasy and reality. It collects two EPs worth of downtempo electronic art pop with added layers of trip hop and heady synths. It explores themes of growth, home and roots, as well as structural inequality and poverty. Above all, it’s about self-acceptance and self-love. Veering from industrial bangers to atmospherically produced moments of euphoria, Delilah blends glitchy electronics with crisp rhythms, which were co-written and co-produced with composer Raphael Ninot.

Delilah revels in otherworldly sounds and visuals that play with the abstract, the psychedelic and the conceptual, but the lived experiences she mines for creativity remain at the core of what she does. Growing up on Holloway Road in London and beginning her creative endeavours with family members has clearly impacted this, and a sense of community provides her bedrock. Her band, Skinny Girl Diet, which she founded at the age of 14 with her sister Ursula and their cousin Amelia, were a staple of the 2010’s UK indie-punk landscape. She then successfully transitioned to her current solo moniker with the release of her debut single ‘Babylon’ in 2018.

In a short time, she’s worked with some of the best across both the music and fashion world including Neneh Cherry, Vivienne Westwood, Ghost Poet and more. In 2021 alone she hosted a ‘Goddess Energy Experience’ show at The Old Blue Last with Tyson and Grove, headlined St Pancras Old Church, partnered with Marshall Amps, and she performed an exclusive A/V live session with FACT Magazine. She’s also presented her own monthly NTS Radio show since 2016.

Joe Goddard is a member of Hot Chip and The 2 Bears, a songwriter, producer, DJ, remixer and co-founder of the Greco-Roman label. Like Four Tet, Caribou and Jamie xx, Joe combines a thirst for experimentation, an instinctive understanding of the dancefloor and a love of left-of-centre pop music. During the 1990s, Joe attended Elliott School in Putney, where he met his Hot Chip bandmate Alexis Taylor and his long-time friend Kieran Hebden.

As a teenager, he progressed from indie and hip hop to drum’n’bass to house and garage, always thrilled by those moments when underground music infiltrated the charts. As well as working on seven Hot Chip albums and two with Raf Rundell as The 2 Bears, Joe has remixed the likes of Kraftwerk, New Order, Disclosure, Dirty Projectors, the Chemical Brothers, Jessie Ware, produced tracks for Franz Ferdinand, Bernard Sumner, Little Boots, Dels and Mashrou Leila and released a string of solo singles.

‘Gabriel’, his haunting 2011 hit with singer Valentina, was his first big success beyond Hot Chip. “It made me feel that I was capable of doing things outside the band,” he says. This led to ‘Taking Over’ and his first solo album proper on Domino, ‘Electric Lines’. A keen collaborator, he has released tracks with Michael Mayer, Tuff City Kids, Eats Everything, Mathew Dear, Mixhell and Hayden Thorpe from Wild Beasts in recent years and has projects currently in the lab alongside his follow up solo album.
