Acclaimed singer and guitarist John Smith will return with a new album, Headlong, on the revised release date of June 30, 2017, following an extensive forthcoming UK & Euro headline tour last month, including a sold out London Union Chapel show. Produced by Sam Lakeman and featuring Cara Dillon on BVs, Headlong comes dedicated to the memory of John Renbourn and is the follow up to Great Lakes, John’s widely-applauded and Radio 2-supported release of 2013. John will make several festival appearances this summer, including End of The Road – full run of dates below.
Fresh from ​tour stints playing for Lianne La Havas and Lisa Hannigan (who has a co-write on the new record),​ acclaimed singer & guitarist​ John ​will release ​new album ‘Headlong’​ ​on June 30​​. Produced with​ friend​ Sam Lakeman (brother to Seth & Sean) and mixed by Ruadhri Cushnan (Flo Morrissey, Mumford & Sons), ‘Headlong’ is dedicated to the memory of John’s close friend, Pentangle legend John Renbourn​- ​who ​himself ​tipped Smith as ‘the future of folk music’.

John will also appear as a guitarist on Joan Baez’s forthcoming album later this year, alongside a spot on the new Martin Simpson album. Having previously opened up for​ the likes of​ Iron & Wine and Richard Hawley, John ​has just​ ​​finished up a sizeable​​ ​UK/​Euro headline tour​​, with festival appearances including End Of The Road slot also confirmed​ for summer​.
