Johnny Borrell & Zazou announce new single + Hypnogogic Mandala Party
“Scott Walker in a 1960s tapas bar… His resurrection is complete” NME
“His unselfconscious energy and melodic sense remain… dancing like a firefly over a sultry and swampy mood. Welcome back Johnny” The Independent
“Thoroughly infectious fun. Lacing rootsy rhumbas, polkas, gypsy soul and flapper tunes… converting all to jiggling believers” The Guardian
“Borrell’s new direction is a riot… inspired, insane, heroic” Evening Standard
“Heroic. That’s what Johnny Borrell is. In the face of adversity he’s unrelenting. His self-confidence never wavers; his belief is unshakeable. He’s back” DIY
“Wholly entertaining” Drowned In Sound
“Few could deny that Borrell has real talent” The Arts Desk
“On a personal level, I feel like I connected with song writing again, I feel free in terms of song writing, I feel like this is definitely the strongest stuff I’ve done for a very, very long time in terms of songs – that is the very definition of satisfaction.”

Johnny Borrell & Zazou have announced a new live show for later this month at London’s Passing Clouds. The Hypnogogic Mandala Party is to celebrate the launch of new single ‘Black God’ on Atlantic Culture Records.
‘Black God’ will be released on October 30th and will only be available in exchange for a mandala. The track will premiere on the day of the show – Thurs 17th September.
Following on from Zazou’s series of Hypnogogic Mandala Parties, this time, fans can receive the free download of ‘Black God’ by emailing Atlantic Culture Records a drawing or photo of a mandala – in doing so, they will be creating their own artwork for the single.
