(November 20 – Toronto, ON) — Dine Alone Records is proud to announce the addition of platinum selling UK songstress Kate Nash to their expanding roster of Canadian and International artists. Nash’s latest effort, an EP titled Death Proof was released today in Canada and is available for FREE by pre-ordering Nash’s upcoming full-length LP, GIRL TALK, due out early next year via Pledge Music. Pre-order GIRL TALK HERE, or purchase the EP on its own HERE.
Never one to disappoint, Nash’s triumphant return sounds like nothing else around right now: a hypnotic bass guitar riff sets the scene on the title track for Death Proof, eventually revealing itself as a wicked Dick Dale & His Del-Tones meets Debbie Harry dirty club track.
Whilst recording in LA, Nash has honed a new sound that she developed from using the bass guitar as the centerpiece of her writing. Despite this being new territory creatively for Nash, her undeniable and unconventional lyricism is stamped all over it. The EP also includes a new take on The Kinks classic “All Day and All of The Night”, which she transforms into a grunge lament.
Nash has been busy working on her third album, Girl Talk, for the past twelve months. She has also been performing with her all-female band to sell-out-crowds across the UK, including a jubilant slot at this year’s Bestival. In 2010 Nash set up ‘Rock n Roll for Girls After-School Music Club,’ to inspire teenage girls to develop their songwriting and create their own music. On December 1, a group of these students, from participating schools across the UK who have been part of the project, will perform at the ‘End of Year Gala’ at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre in London.
