Featuring legendary riot grrrl pioneer Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre) at its helm, The Julie Ruin released their debut full-length album, Run Fast, last September. “Running fast” into 2014, The Julie Ruin will launch their North American tour on April 1st, taking their raucous show to the road once more with stops in Minneapolis, Portland and Vancouver as well as appearances at Sled Island Music & Arts Festival and Pitchfork Music Festival.
In celebration, the band has released a new video for Run Fast album track “Just My Kind”. A soulful bass-driven love song of epic proportions mixed by James Murphy (DFA, LCD Soundsystem), the exuberant video was shot in Hawaii, NYC, Australia and the Catskill Mountains. The “Just My Kind” video premiered with Stereogum, and is available below.

Kathleen Hanna is a celebrated, outspoken figure at the forefront of feminist punk, and the subject of Sini Anderson’s The Punk Singer documentary film which was released on DVD today. The Julie Ruin also features dream team Kathi Wilcox on bass (Bikini Kill bandmate), Kenny Mellman on keys (Kiki and Herb), Carmine Covelli on drums (actor, filmmaker and musical juggernaut) & Sara Landeau on guitar (met Kathleen mentoring at Rock Camp for Girls).
