Reuniting with record producer Joe Aste, Kelz2Busy conjures a late-night city cruise that’s as seductive as it is sonorous. His ethereal vocals, intricately layered harmonies, and distinctive R&B production seamlessly fuse to craft a rhythm that courses through your veins, much like a pulsating cityscape.
Discussing the inspiration behind his new single, Kelz2Busy shares, “This one means a lot to me. From the heavy bass line, to the harmonies I laid when I first heard the production, to the nostalgic airy feeling it gave me right away, I knew I needed to come from the most honest place possible. Here is a real life description of my experience with love, and the disappointment that comes with it.”
His latest project, 3 Typa Nights, highlights his versatility as a songwriter and performer across three distinct tracks that prove why he’s already gained recognition as an 2023 Artist to Watch by Apple Music and earned co-signs from the likes of Ice Spice, Pharrell, Drake, Jack Harlow, Jorja Smith, Brent Faiyaz, and Timbaland. The self-penned 3-pack features “lost and found” – a fusion of dancehall rhythms and nod to his Jamaican heritage – sets the scene for a vivid narrative of his nights out, offering an authentic glimpse into Kelz’s life beyond the recording studio. Praised by Pitchfork, 3 Typa Nights is a testament to his artistic evolution and commitment to pushing boundaries in the music industry.
Ahead of the project’s release, Kelz partnered with On The Radar Radio’s “On The Rise” series for a documentary piece that explores the aspiring young artist’s early days in Brooklyn – watch here and here. Further elevating his profile, he teamed up with streetwear brand KidSuper for a visually compelling short film teasing 3 Typa Nights – watch part 1 here and part 2 here. The brand previously hosted Kelz for his debut live performance during Paris Fashion Week where he opened for Kodak Black and Roddy Rich. Kelz has also partnered with fashion brands like Givenchy, Timberland, Patta, Ksubi, Avirex, Luar, and more.
Kelz2Busy is signed to J. Erving’s Los Angeles-based digital distribution company Human Re Sources – a formidable independent powerhouse of talent development that has signed and developed such acts as RAYE, Ant Clemons, Brent Faiyaz, Cordae, YBN Nahmir, Pink Sweat$, Baby Rose, Bren Joy, and Jensen McRae.
