Kitten Pyramid – ‘Uh Oh’ (Out July 22nd)

Kitten Pyramid – ‘Uh Oh’ (Out July 22nd)

‘Uh Oh’ is the debut single from experimental rockers Kitten Pyramid. It also is the first offering from their album, also called ‘Uh Oh’, recorded at legendary Rockfield Studios (home of Queen, Oasis, Coldplay and the Stone Roses etc) with their producer Nick Brine who has also worked with all of the aforementioned artists. “Thematically, ‘Uh Oh’ relates to being joyfully disorientated and excited at the prospect of stepping into the unknown.” states the press release which something they were about to deliver in spades in terms of expression as they add fresh meaning to the term Soundclash. Although this is not as reckless as throwing in the proverbial kitchen sink, there is craft, some understanding and strangely quirky about ‘Uh Oh’

So in todays mixing bowl; introduce an acoustic opening, before blend with the odd guitar, then filter through  punk scenes, drop the tempo, bridge liberally then brighten with piano led AOR, complete with brass, do not withhold the psychedelic rock signatures all should, at least after the first listen,  completely confuse. The one thing is for sure, they can all play! As a piece of musical graffiti, the debut is impressive, if not fitting in with its surroundings, which is no bad thing in irself. How original, we will have to see. Still the end result of ‘Uh Oh’ leaves you intrigued. 7.4/10
