Kristin Hersh presents new video, announces tour with Grant Lee Phillips plus 3 dates with Tanya Donelly

Indie rock legend Kristin Hersh has released a new video for ‘Wonderland’, animated by Wyatt True. This track is off her latest double album ‘Wyatt at the Coyote Palace’ (Listen on Bandcamp, Spotify or iTunes).  Released on vinyl via HHBTM Records and as a double-CD/ book combo via Omnibus Press, these songs were recorded over a 4-year period on the island where Kristin grew up.

Kristin Hersh will tour with Grant Lee Phillips for dates in 12 cities, preceded by three exclusive shows with step-sister and fellow Throwing Muses member Tanya Donelly on March 9, 10 and 11 at Boston’s City Winery. She will perform songs from this latest release, as well as other offerings from her illustrious songwriting career.

‘Wyatt At The Coyote Palace’ is the third release in the ground-breaking book-CD format that Hersh began with her previous solo album ‘Crooked’ and Throwing Muses’ 2013 release ‘Purgatory/Paradise’.

After founding her influential art-punk band Throwing Muses in Providence, RI at the age of 14, Kristin? has spent decades confounding expectations and breaking rules, both hers and others. From life as the reluctant frontperson for the Muses, to the solo career she swore would never happen, through the founding of the ambitious and altruistic nonprofit CASH Music, to her recent foray into a successful career as an author, Kristin, now a mother of four, didn’t see much of this coming.

Throwing Muses first gained recognition playing on bills with similarly singular artists like the Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. They signed with the highly regarded British indie label 4AD Records and then to Warner Bros in the USA.

Kristin’s solo career spun off in 1994 with the release of ‘Hips and Makers’. The CD was widely acclaimed and included ‘Your Ghost’, a duet with R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe. This was followed by eight more critically acclaimed and influential solo records, in addition to her releases with her power trio 50FOOTWAVE, who most recently released the ‘Bath White’ EP.

Kristin Hersh has also found a surprisingly successful career as an author. She has published the critically acclaimed ‘Paradoxical Undressing’ in the UK (released as ‘Rat Girl’ in the USA), a children’s book ‘Toby Snax’ and ‘Don’t Suck, Don’t Die’, a highly acclaimed personal account of her long friendship with the late Vic Chesnutt.

Rolling Stone named ‘Rat Girl’ one of the top ten best rock memoirs ever written. ‘Rat Girl’ was also adapted as an award-winning play and is now being made into a TV series. Her book ‘Don’t Suck, Don’t Die’ was a finalist for the American Booksellers Association book of the year and shortlisted for the Pat Conroy Southern book of the year. NPR said that this is “not only one of the best books of the year, but one of the most beautiful rock memoirs ever written.”
