Kwame – Stop Knocking @ My Door – Out Now
KWAME
“STOP KNOCKIN’ @ MY DOOR!”OUT NOW
At just 22 years old, Kwame, the Ghanaian Sydney-based producer, writer, rapper and engineer is one of the most recognisable names in Australian music – known for delivering witty lyricism and diverse production. First heard on triple j’s Good Nights last night, ‘STOP KNOCKIN’ @ MY DOOR!’ marks the bold beginning of a new project coming in 2020 and follows on from 2018’s hugely successful Endless Conversations EP (6M streams). Inspired by the intrinsic desire of every artist for creative evolution, ‘STOP KNOCKIN’ @ MY DOOR!’ is his most ambitious to date – listen here.
Unabashedly deviating from the new wave sonics his fans have previously come to know Kwame for, the song serves as a sample-heavy statement piece built from a motivational standpoint.”The use of the repetitive sample chop on the line ‘Stop Knocking’ is meant as a constant force, a shield and message for any trouble, negativity and sadness to steer clear from my presence,” Kwame says. Ever the optimist, Kwame’s message is to “never, EVER allow someone’s dark thoughts to cloud over you. We do exactly what we want, when we want, how we want. We now embark on a new culture forming right in front of our eyes.” Cultivating culture is Kwame’s specialty and there aren’t many who managed to break the mold like he has in the last year. Sparking acclaim for previous singles ‘WOW’ and ‘NO TIME’, he received triple j rotation and extensive playlisting – that lead him to support slots alongside heavyweights Migos, Skepta, 6lack, AJ Tracey and a national spot on the recent Peking Duk ‘Wasted’ tour.
Kwame capped off 2018 by premiering new single ‘CLOUDS.’ on Apple Music’s Beats 1 with Zane Lowe and took out triple j’s ‘Unearthed Artist Of The Year’.
Among appearances at SXSW and being crowned unofficial ‘BIGSOUND MVP 2018’, Kwame also sold out all nine dates on his end of year Australian headline tour. Continuing to dominate the scene, so far in this year, Kwame made an epic return to the Splendour in the Grass stage after winning the triple j Unearthed spot in 2018, and earlier this year, expanded his sonic sphere on party track ‘Summer Rain’ with Wave Racer.
This is the first single taken from Kwame’s third extended play out now via Def Jam AUZ.
