November 17, 2016 – L.A. slacker-punks Blonde Summer shared their new single “Beer On Ice” with CraveOnline yesterday, who called it, “Fresh. Smooth. Real…. tailor made for cracking open some cold ones in a backyard with some of your closest bearded, plain white T-shirt donning buddies.” “Beer On Ice” comes out tomorrow via Dangerbird Records.
“Beer On Ice,” the latest single from L.A.’s  sun-bleached slacker-rock combo Blonde Summer, arrives via Dangerbird Records Nov. 18, 2016. The track is a return to form for mastermind Chris Pope, who specializes in vivid vignettes of lazy days, wanderlust and liquor-store romance told through fuzzed-out vocals and ecstatic hooks. “Beer On Ice” comes after a period of hibernation that followed the release of 2015’s electronic-infused Paradise EP. During this time, the band indulged in a richly deserved period of hanging out with girlfriends, finding jobs, quitting jobs and getting lost while finding themselves again. “‘Beer On Ice’ is a little sanctuary amidst haircuts, poodle skirts, and yeti’s,” Pope says. “It’s a room full of friends just blabbing away the day. The beer and ice look at each other and say, ‘Hey’…’Hi,’  Then it all works out and they hook up and live happily ever after.”
The track’s stripped-down attack finds Pope serving up the kind of jams that have characterized Blonde Summer over the band’s six-year, four EP career—simple love songs sung through shitty microphones, played with broken guitars and captured on 30-year-old cassette recorders. Sun-soaked abandon. Baked to perfection.
