Last Night From Glasgow – A Night to Remember
Huge thanks to Fiona from The Scotsman for popping along on Saturday Night to review our show. I’ve already said everything I think I need to say about the event in various social media posts, that doesn’t mean I wont say it all again. It was the very best of our community, everyone played their part and the result was so much more than the sum of it’s parts!

Much like the finale which epitomised everything we believe in. Bobby leading the rest of the performers in a rousing version of what might be Scotland’s most famous pop song. Catching a glimpse of Eva (Brontes) and Paul (Autoleisureland) belting out the lyrics, pleased me so much. Two folks who by rights would never be within miles of each other artistically united by a common love of performing, giving it all.
I couldn’t be more proud of everything we have achieved and I found myself speachless at times, such was the talent on display. Xan’s Blood Orange Blossom, Chris improvising on Sirenesque and of course my favourite ever Sister John song Funeral all had me bewildered as to how we could really have had anything to do with these people. Surely the should all be signed to Sire records and be playing sold out arenas.
If anyone was catching Brontes for the first time, I guess you had the nromal response we all do of thinking “well thats a banger, oh and that’s a banger, and so is that”
Pearl Charles and her band – well what is there to say. 4 of the most talented musicians you could ever hope to meet, wrapped up in 4 of the nicest people.

Fay Fife showed why she has been one of Scotlands most respected artists for so long. A blistering lynchian set from she and Brian.
The more understated but equally thrilling sets from Amy Duncan, Grahame Skinner and Mark W Georgsson provided the perfect counter balance.
Pearl turned to me during a break in Amy’s set “She is stunning” she uttered in her inimitable Californian drawl. It was delightful to share a moments appreciation of Mark with one of our earliest members (Hello Wendy) and many of you have already written to me claiming Grahame was your own personal highlight, seems there was something for everyone!
And then there was Billy … God I love that man!

A quick trip through to Seabass today, returning with Mull Historical Society and wojtek the bear and more Frank and Walters – No Steven we still do not have the orange one. It’s coming next week. Whilst there we also ordered a repress for Seabass but a new press for us. We will be bringing you an exlcusive “yearling” repress of the Gymkhana album. A new album will form part of the 2027 membership bundles but this very small run should tickle the fancy of the indie afficiandos amongst you!
Pearl left us with a handful of copies of Magic Mirror, these are available in our store for folks quick enough to grab one!
Don’t Forget that we have recently announced new re-issues from Fat lady Sings and The Big Dish
Finally Finally Finally … Next week Fay Fife will play The Glad Cafe to launch her brand new album – You should go !
