After a mind-blowing show at the Barbican with BBC Symphony Orchestra & Jules Buckley earlier this year and a super up-close-and-personal headline gig at the Moth Club, Lianne La Havas’s 2020 worldwide touring plans were brought to a halt as live shows everywhere were paused indefinitely due to the pandemic.  Originally due to play a show at The Roundhouse venue  in London prior to lockdown, Lianne has chosen this venue to play a one-off solo live show which will include new songs from her forthcoming self-titled album as well as firm favourites from her first two records, 2012’s ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’ and 2015’s ‘Blood’. This very special, multi camera, one-off performance will be broadcast via YouTube and time-zoned to specific regions: 1

5th July: 8PM BST / 9PM CEST (UK & Europe)

15th July: 9PM EST / 6PM PST ( US)16th July: (11AM BST) 8PM AEDT (Australia) / 7 PM JST (Japan) and KST (Korea)

Tickets for the gig will be available from 9am Friday June 26th: HERE

In addition, last night, her exquisite cover of Radiohead’s ‘Weird Fishes’ was Annie Macs Hottest Record  on BBC Radio 1. Available HERE.

The recording of ‘Weird Fishes’ began in earnest by accident: returning from a glorious, sunny Glastonbury festival, La Havas and her core band decided to see if they could nail their lithe live version of Radiohead’s song in the studio. It was this experience that led to the formation of the new album. “I had the most wonderful, nourishing experience recording that,” she says, “And that’s where I decided: the rest of the album needs to be like this. It’s got to be my band, and I’ve got to do it in London, whenever people have time.”

Lianne re-entered our musical consciousness at the end of February with her emotionally stirring soul-gem ‘Bittersweet’ and has since released the moving and sensual ‘Paper Thin’ and her latest single, co-written and produced by Mura Masa, ‘Can’t Fight’—all of which have helped put Lianne firmly back on the cultural map for 2020.

The confidence that La Havas has cultivated, both personally and creatively with this new album is audible in the fact that ‘Lianne La Havas’ is a record that feels utterly real—a living, breathing thing that will ultimately come to life in a live setting. It hasn’t been polished to a squeak in favor of a “clean” recording; La Havas followed her gut on this album, going with what feels good and Lianne is extremely excited about playing these powerful songs live. “The best part is that I own them, and really believe in them,” she says. “And, you know, it’s me. So I can’t be afraid of doing what I do, and being who I am.”
