London, Monday 31st August: Maribou State topped the bill as the LIDO Festivalparty returned to Victoria Park for 2026, pledging that the previously announced hiatus would not be the end of the band.
The British duo, known for their lush, electronic and live instrumentation, provided the perfect close to a long weekend in Victoria Park, following two weekends of epic headline sets during All Points East festival.
Superstar support came from Kelis, as well as DJ sets from the likes of Folamour, Kelly Lee Owens and LTJ Bukem.
Maribou State’s Chris Davids and Liam Ivory opened the headline set with the ambient, slow-burning tension of ‘Peace Talk’ before launching straight into fan-favorite territory. Early standout ‘Nervous Tics’, a highlight of their seminal 2018 album Kingdoms in Colour. The momentum built rapidly through tracks like ‘Otherside’, ‘Beginner’s Luck’, ‘Glasshouses’ and ‘All I Need’.
For featured vocalist Talulah Ruby it was a hometown gig. She said: “Thank you very much. I used to live by this park – this is a dream come true for me.”
There was a drum solo during ‘Dance on the World’ before the slamming rhythm of ‘Rituals’ and the bass of ‘The Clown’.
Before ‘Midas’, Chris Davids said: “Lido festival, this is the last one for us tonight. But before we go, I just want to say that, when Liam and I first started this over 15 years ago, we never could imagine the music we played tonight, that we made in the shed in his parents’ back garden, and we would never would have imagined we would headline a festival here at Victoria Park. I just want to say such a big thank you to you all for thanking us over the years, and whilst this is the last show for a little while, it’s most definitely not the end. Thank you all so much. We’ll see you later.”
Before the headlines, Kelis brought solid-gold star power to the main stage, with the unmistakable refrain of ‘Caught Out There’, “I hate you so much right now”, flying from the stage. The twice Grammy-nominated artist has genuine pop classics in her catalogue, from ‘Milkshake’ and ‘Trick Me’ to the André 3000 collaboration ‘Millionaire’. But there was still time to squeeze in snatches of Nirvana’s ‘Smell’s Like Teen Spirit’ and Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’.
Kelis was followed, ahead of the headliners, by megastar producer Folamour, filling the dancefloor with a fusion of soul, funk, disco, afrobeat and pop.
Lady Wray was brought classy r’n’b to the park’s afternoon crowd – “Come rain or shine. Let’s keep this show going” – her voice powerful on golden modern soul tracks like ‘Piece of Me’ and ‘Piece Of Me’.
Alabaster DePlume opened the main stage in his own inimitable way, his saxophone, and his positivity, ringing across the park. “Thank you for living,” he said. “It’s fucking hard and you’re doing it. And thank you for your work, everyone in hi-vis. Thank you for working on this festival.”
The second stage saw a B2B with Theo Parrish and Moodymann, and sets from Calibre, Marie Davidson and MADMADMAD.
On the Third Stage legendary DJ LTJ Bukem brought the drum and bass movement that he helped originate to Victoria Park, while producer and songwriter Kelly Lee Owens laid down the beats for a packed crowd.
