Yeah, no wonder Adam’s having a good smile to himself in that picture up there because there is so much Randolph’s Leap news and linkage for us to share today it’s frankly a little bit daft.
Where to begin? Ah yes, the release of ‘Light of the Moon’ – track six on the forthcoming new album Clumsy Knot by your favourite Scottish indie-folkie funsters (that’s Randolph’s Leap btw) – as a trademark Lost Map audio postcard single*. The title track comes backed by two “rescued” Randolphs catalogue classics in the shape of ‘Zombie’ and ‘Mutiny’, plus an alternative full-band version of ‘Light of the Moon’. ‘Mutiny’ (which is NOT included on Clumsy Knot incidentally, just to confuse everyone) is also accompanied by a video directed by Struan Robertson and featuring some unusually good-looking pirates swashbuckling their way around the Leap’s native Glasgow.
Take a wee breather now, and prepare for your next dose of Randolphs-related excitement which is to say news of the supports for their Clumsy Knot album launch party at Kinning Park Complex Glasgow, Sat, Apr 5. They are – *drumroll* – Sweet Baboo and Rachael Dadd. OOOOOH, THAT’S A BINGO!
Both are very much part of the Lost Map extended family – with Baboo (you can call him Stephen) having produced The Pictish Trail’s album Secret Soundz Vol. 2, and Rachael having worked extensively with Rozi Plain both as part of This is the Kit and as a soloist (she’s also set to do a postcard release with us in the spring of her single ‘Strike Our Scythes’, keep a lookout for that). We’re pyur chuffed to have ’em onboard. Tickets for the gig – still available for a short time only at an early-bird discounted rate – are onsale here.
In the run-up to Clumsy Knot’s arrival, Randolph’s Leap are playing a few shows around the UK with Kid Canaveral, see below for dates. They’re also doing some radio sessions, beginning with Tom Morton’s show on BBC Radio Scotland, which will air this Fri, Feb 21 at 10.05pm.
Finally, here’s a picture of Andy from Randolph’s Leap lending Dave Canaveral his guitar in the middle of Kid C’s Lumber Party set the other night, and looking inordinately proud of himself for it.
