Lila Drew unveils new single ‘Wine’
Rising vocalist and songwriter Lila Drew unveils her new single ‘Wine’ today via Capitol Records, listen here. Alongside the release, she shares the official music video, watch here.
Written and produced alongside frequent collaborator Sachi DiSerafino (Joy Again, Lorde, Dijon), ‘Wine’ finds Lila in a moment of summer reflection.
“We wrote ‘Wine’ the first time Sachi and I went upstate towards the end of the summer,”says Lila. “We were staying in a little house across a field from a studio made for a big band, but it was just us. He played guitar and I sang along and wrote different words in my notebook that felt aligned with what he was playing. I had this story I wanted to tell about seeing an old love again and feeling this strange combination of longing and dread. that experiencing our love again would make me feel so high but could never let me down easy.”
It arrives hot on the heels of Lila’s recent ‘Same Old Song’, and marks the second release from an upcoming album made in collaboration with DiSerafino. Recorded over the last year and a half across studios in New York City and upstate New York, the music brings together Lila’s emotionally resonant songwriting and DiSerafino’s ear for visceral sonic detail.
Lila will also provide support for Paris Jackson’s upcoming tour, performing at The Starlet Room at Harlow’s in Sacramento on August 4.
London-born, Los Angeles-raised and New York-based, Lila Drew has been writing songs since she was 11 years old, honing her musical sensibilities alongside a deep engagement with poetry.
