Inspired in part by Kevin Barnes’s move from Athens, Georgia to Vermont, “Rude Girl on Rotation” is the newest grooving track from of Montreal pulling influence from Nick Drake, Canned Heat, and the basslines of the ’60s.
The song comes accompanied by a collaged, mixed-media trip of a videodirected & animated by Madeline BB.

During the summer of 2013, Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart traveled to Sigur Rós’s personal studio in Iceland to set down their interpretations of American and Caribbean spirituals using a 1953 Silvertone guitar given to them by their father (producer Michael Stewart), the man who introduced them to religious thought and folk music.
The resulting album, Unclouded Sky, explores themes of death and faith over the course of nine songs originally composed between 1850 and 1920, which are interspersed with field recordings Stewart made in the jungle of Guyana.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this unique release (which was previously only available as a Record Store Day exclusive pressing that sold out immediately), we’re excited to make Unclouded Sky available on White/Silver mix vinyl for Xiu Xiu fans new and old who weren’t able to add it to their collection the first time around.
