[July 19, 2024] Today, LITTRELL releases their debut album Public Love. Marching behind music video backed singles “Dirty”, “Shark Week”, and“Streams”, the new album is now available on most streaming platforms.
The songs you can now inhale on Public Love are gutsy, gifted, and show an intense commitment to authentic expression. With evident themes of vulnerability, imperfect romance, reckoning, and self-reflection, the new album features eighteen sultry yet emotional tracks that trapeze through realms of indie rock, contemporary pop, and alternative. Throughout the sonic scenes depicted, LITTRELL gets naked as they evolve in their self-understanding through the often-tumultuous mirror of love relationships
In the summer of 2022, almost immediately after Lindsay decided they were ready to take their story — scattered through their songwriting notebooks — public, Garrett found them on a music app and slid into their dms. The original conception was that Lindsay was a solo artist, Littrell. But the duo’s palpable creative chemistry rapidly moved them from collaborators to co-producers to bandmates, from me to we: LITTRELL. They spent just shy of two years in Garrett’s studio, Naptime Recordings, together excavating the emotion in each of the magnetic, moody alt-pop songs on Public Love, enhanced by the heartfelt mixing and mastering of Melissa Mattey.
Lindsay Littrell, the band’s brainchild, speaks about inspirations and themes that run throughout the new album:
“Our music isn’t the stuff of situationships. For better and for worse, it requires a level of commitment to hearing the whole story, to sitting with the intensity and holding the quiet, for breathing through the tension and reveling in the quirks. It wants to have you look straight at it and not flinch, and then to do the same for you. It wants to grow and deepen over time with you, for you to notice new dimensions, to understand in deeper and more complex ways. It wants your passion and your patience, Saturday night heat and Sunday morning easy. It wants to hold your hand while you discover yourself, to challenge you, to comfort you, to hold you accountable and to give vent to your righteous anger. Those who hold space for the depth and breadth of the love it has to offer, for the deep end and the slow burn, who return to it again and again, who let it work its way into their lives, will not walk away from it the same. This is not an overstatement. This is a warning label.”
“Streams”, the ethereal, anthemic focus track for the album, released earlier this week, perfectly ties together a lot of overarching themes seen throughout Public Love. Amidst the cinematic backdrop, in the video, we see Lindsay unashamedly lost in self love, in the mirror and then in the tub, giving themself over completely to their unrelenting dream, they insist, they won’t let go. The track serves as one of the more uplifting pieces on the album, while staying true to musical complexity and introspective lyrics that, as always, penetrate deep.

LITTRELL BIO
Dark and ethereal, LITTRELL’s brand of moody pop/alt rock/trip hop is the freshest head-turning musical phenomenon to come out of the Indianapolis area. Core members Lindsay Littrell (lead vocals, keyboards, synths, percussion, songwriting, production) and Garrett Langebartels (lead guitar, bass, synths, percussion, engineering, production) have found something that’s both gritty and magical in the way their creative personalities intertwine. After releasing a string of singles and music videos in early 2024 with the most recent being “Streams”, the two-piece are now releasing their highly anticipated debut album, Public Love.
While the world absorbs this 18-track album, other new music is in the works, as Lindsay Littrell (they/them) is a prolific and productive songwriter with a lot to say. Their artistry sits upon a lifetime of influences, beginning with their journey as a young child surrounded by early contemporary Christian music to later connecting with secular greats like Prince, Janet Jackson, Radiohead and The Police. Complementing Lindsay’s sonic influences is the innovativeGarrett Langebartels (he/him), who hailed from a musical family in Indiana. A skilled recordist and multi-instrumentalist, Langebartels musical influences know no bounds- ranging from blues, folk, indie rock, and even rap. As a unit, the two musicians are deep and inventive, often being compared to Kate Bush, Lana Del Ray, and Portishead. The songs you’ll hear on Public Love (Out Now) are gutsy, gifted, and show an intense commitment to authentic expression.
