‘Good Day’

Brand new EP released 30th November

Clash Mag “beautifully dark indie rock”

London based 5-piece Suzerain release their brand new EP, ‘Good Day’, at the end of November. Produced by double Grammy Award winner Steve Lyon, who has worked with the likes of Depeche Mode, Siouxsie Sioux and The Cure, this is a brooding, cinematic collection of songs that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the dark majesty of those artists.

The title track, ‘Good Day’ is a thunderous, sinuous beast; three and a half minutes of stadium-size drums, colossal fuzz bass lines, portentous chord progressions and declamatory vocals. You can listen to it below.

Lead singer Tom Pether explains, “’Good Day’ is a song about pretending everything is okay when it’s not, that things are fine when deep down we know things are very far from fine. Not fine at all. It’s about allowing ourselves to be distracted, forgetting or choosing to forget. It’s a little sarcastic. And I think it’s a little sad.

Backed up with a collection of darkly alternative songs such as the emotive, throbbing ‘Try Your Best’ and jittering, cello-driven beauty of ‘Hell Of A Way To Go’, the EP builds upon the sonic template laid down in recent double A-side single ‘Dark Dark’ / ‘Manhattan’, which drew inspiration from Berlin-era Bowie and gained comparisons to Nine Inch Nails. The ‘Good Day’ EP also includes a minimalist remix of the afore-mentioned ‘Manhattan’ by conceptual artist Touchy Subject.

Suzerain will be taking to the stage on Thursday 13th November at Antwerp Mansion, Manchester and Friday 14th November at Surya, Kings Cross, London. These UK dates follow a 10-day stint in Germany supporting the hugely successful band Livingston, having previously shared the stage with the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Gary Numan.

13th – Antwerp Mansion, Manchester
14th – Surya, London

Thomas Anonymous (Vocals)
