In celebration of the release, Lower Than Atlantis are playing live at a very special 18+ album launch party on Monday night (6th October). The band will be playing at The Monarch in Camden which for the week of album release becomes THE ATLANTIS. The show is specially for fans and competition winners. Fans who have been to the band’s instore performance at HMV Oxford Street will be given preferential treatment with the first 50 fans wearing their wristbands getting free entry. Fans can also gain entry by checking the band’s socials for a series of competitions running over the next few days.
Those in Leeds will also be treated to a special album launch party at The Key Club in association with Slam Dunk. The band will be playing a late night show at the Slam Dunk Club night. The first 100 fans wearing their Leeds HMV instore wristbands get in free so long as they arrive before 11:30pm. Again this is an 18+ club night.
The album, which is their most ambitious album to date, was recorded in their own studio in Watford and produced by Dan Lancaster. The record positively fizzes with musical ambition, lyrical wit, crossover potential and carpe diem spirit. And songs, brilliant songs.
From the us-against-the-world bravado of ‘English Kids In America’ (likely to become the anthem for any homegrown gang touring the US) to the reflective closer ‘Number One’, Lower Than Atlantis is the sound of a band determined to give everything they’ve got in search of glory. It’s reflective of a band who’ve grown up “I’m 26,” says singer Mike Duce, “It’s time to stop acting like a fucking child – I’m definitely less of a nutter” without growing old “Don’t worry,” says Mike, “I won’t stop being mouthy – I calls them as I sees them”.
And, whether you’re looking for brilliantly accessible rock anthems ‘Emily’, ‘Here We Go’ or heartbreakingly direct break-up songs ‘Ain’t No Friend Of Mine’, LTA delivers. Mike Duce unflinchingly documents his unhappy experiences, both professional in ‘Criminal’ and personal in ‘Words Don’t Come So Easily’, but in a way that anyone and everyone will relate to. And, just as his lyrics have become more universal, and as LTA’s melodies reach peaks of infectiousness rarely scaled by punk rock geezers from Watford, so the band’s musical palate has expanded.
“There’s only so far you can go with four blokes playing guitars, bass and drums,” smiles Mike. “And now was the time to do whatever the fuck we wanted.”
Consequently, an electronic edge snakes through the album, while the addition of strings, dance beats elevates LTA far above most of their rock peers.
First single ‘Here We Go,’ was Zane Lowes ‘Hottest Record In The World‘ enjoyed 4 weeks A LIST on Radio 1. The video has already racked up over 547,000 views. New double A-side single of ‘Emily’/ ‘English Kids In America’ is currently B-list on Radio 1 and out 29th September 2014
