Following the release of their glittering second single “Elizabeth Tower” and ahead of Friday’s release, Lowtide’s much anticipated second album, Southern Mind, has been premiered live in its entirety by the one and only, Henry Rollins on his KCRW show in the US.
Alongside the worldwide listening party, Lowtide have also released the brooding blood red, oceanic visualizer to the album’s title track “Southern Mind“.
Highly celebrated for their dreamy soundscapes, Lowtide have carved out an aural signature for themselves within the Australian music sphere – one that is characterised by pop-laden harmonies, shot through the middle with melancholy, hypnotic vocal work.
Having recently embarked on Australian and UK/EU tours, playing several festivals including End Of The Road Festival in the UK and NZ’s Camp A Low Hum, being nominated for The AMP (Australian Music Prize) and having received international support via BBC 6 Music, Henry Rollins (KCRW), Clash Magazine, Line of Best Fit and more, Lowtide are now gearing up to release their much anticipated second album Southern Mind, out this Friday February 16 on Opposite Number and Australia’s Rice Is Nice.
Recorded at The Aviary Studios in Victoria in the winter of 2017, Southern Mind takes on the theme of “South” and “Southern”. It’s a startlingly stunning album, bursting with ambition and tension, loud yet restrained, from a band with the elegance and passion to create something truly remarkable.
