New York, NY (October 8, 2020) – British Columbia songwriter Luca Fogale has shared a video for the song “Surviving” today, a powerful statement on perseverance, something we all can attest to in 2020. The track is featured on Fogale’s newly released sophomore album, Nothing is Lost, out on Amelia Recordings, which was featured as a “notable release” on NPR Music’s ‘New Music Friday’ podcast.

“I wrote ‘Surviving’ about a question that I ask myself constantly; what does it really mean to be alive? Throughout my life I have spent countless hours wondering if the ways that I am existing are enough. And if the actions that I have taken mean anything at all; particularly while the trivialities of this world seem to be falling further into the background, as so many things become increasingly more grave, and critical. The verses are rooted in feelings of placelessness and exhaustion. The products of searching endlessly for a purpose higher than the state that I had found myself in. And the choruses are a plea for the validation of a life better than the one I had, could be a reality. I firmly believe that there is more to life than simply what appears in front of us, and that we, individually and collectively, have an unlimited potential for transcending those things. The video for “Surviving” is a bookend; a reflection on all of the extraordinary places I’ve been and artists that I have been so fortunate to have worked with throughout the creation of Nothing is Lost. In art and in life, it feels as though we are all searching; for connection, for purpose, for happiness, for everything, and this song and video are a representation of a sliver of that process.”Luca Fogale

Raised and residing in British Columbia and recently nominated for the Western Canadian Music Award for ‘Pop Artist of the Year’, Fogale has toured Canada, United States, Europe, Australia, and Japan, sharing the stage with the likes of Dermot Kennedy, Half Moon Run, Serena Ryder and Josh Ritter. No stranger to soundtracking emotive visuals, Fogale’s music has also been featured on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’, and ‘Station 19’, and has been listened to more than 30 million times across music streaming platforms, with over 85k Shazams.

The honesty in Fogale’s voice is impossible to ignore, elevating songs rooted in the folk tradition to soulful hymns about the human condition. Beneath the calm and melancholic tones of his music is a fervent desire to pull the listener as far into his lyrics and chords as possible until all else fades into the background.

Nothing is Lost is about holding on to the idea that everything is cyclical and infinite, giving us an opportunity to overcome anything with enough hope and patience. With this album, Fogale wanted to scratch the surface of what it means to be alive, and what it means to believe in something.

“I feel as though the questions about existence inside these songs are questions that most people ask themselves. So many of us are desperately trying to figure how to find purpose, with or without spirituality. There is a real beauty in being connected by that.”
