Following on from the release of acclaimed new album ‘Good Mood Fool’, Here We Go Magic frontman Luke Temple will be touring Europe from the end of this week, headlining London’s The Lexington on Monday 18th November. And off the back of a recent East Coast tour, Luke Temple has also announced he will headline and curate a December residency at Union Pool, New York. A diverse mix of artists and friends of Temple will participate in the Union Pool NYC series including Ofir Ganon and Greg Sarnier (Deerhoof), Chris Bear (Grizzly Bear), Sam Owens (Celestial Shores), Steve Marion (Delicate Steve), Adam Shatz (Man Man), Ryan Seaton (Callers) and others. As a unifying theme, all of the sets during the residency will be improvised. See below for the line-ups for each night.
Luke Temple’s new album ‘Good Mood Fool’ is available now through Secretly Canadian. This record features the provocative exotic pop of first single ‘Katie’ and the current single ‘Florida’, a sultry bass-driven track which chronicles a close friend struggling with drug addiction. ‘Good Mood Fool’ draws from myriad influences, from the hushed soulful wail of Curtis Mayfield to the dense harmonies of Gil Evans and the Bulgarian Women’s Choir. The album is a joyful thing: living, vivid and, Temple says, “the favorite thing I’ve made so far.”
The thought-provoking video for ‘Florida’, directed by Kris Moyes (Grizzly Bear, Kirin J Callinan, Sia), premiered recently on My Old Kentucky Blog. On the track, the molasses bass line and bongos form the foundation for Temple’s soaring vocal and shimmery, multi-tracked chorus. The song was inspired by advice for a friend struggling to cope with cocaine addiction, a theme that’s strongly addressed in the video.
