The Lyrical announces National King of Me’Tour

Soulful, introspective roots and hip-hip fusion artist The Lyrical announced last night on triple j’s Roots’n’All with Nkechi Anele that he would be setting off on a massive 14 date national tour in support of his upcoming EP ‘King of Me’.

Hot off the release of his soul-freeing single Fuck It All, Brisbane-based roots artist The Lyrical has announced his brand new EP ‘King of Me’ to be released Friday, June 16.
The Lyrical has also released his new single Teach Me, where he recognizes his privileged place in the world and asks others, “How can I help?”.
For The Lyrical, new single Teach Me is a moment to reflect; recognising that there are pressing matters in the world and he might not always have the answers.
Some of us, as artists and musicians, don’t have all the answers or knowledge about things happening around us, but we need to be open to learn, said Karl.
“There is a world full of important issues, and powerful stories to tell. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the entertainment side of things, that we forget about the message… Which, in my humble opinion, is just as important.”
Since topping the charts on triple j Unearthed for the seventh time, The Lyrical has solidified himself as the rising star of Queensland‘s music scene.
“I’m blown away by the song writing.. I’ve heard so many original compositions, being a writer, but that was amazing.”
Anna-Maria La Spina
“Reminiscent of old school John Butler Trio with the awareness of Black Eye’d Peas “Where Is The Love?”. Teach Me – beautifully embodies all the confusion you feel about the world and finding your place in the chaos. If you want to feel a little WOKE through music, start here.”
Nkechi Aneke, triple j
“With an infectious blend of roots reggae and hip-hop in toe, The Lyrical commands a strong stage presence as he spits his politically charged and socially conscious expressions,”
The Music

The Lyrical (Karl Smith) has become a rising star of the music scene in Brisbane. The Sunshine State capital has always been a hotbed for new talent in a variety of genres and the acoustic/hip-hop/reggae scene is now no exception to that tradition. Following in the footsteps of Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Michael Franti and Xavier Rudd, The Lyrical reflects the ingenuity and musical aptitude it takes to be a great artist. The “unique blend of beat-boxing meshed with folk guitar and socially conscious lyrics” (City News) is fast becoming one of those artists who demand your attention.
